MORA, N.M. (AP) - A Texas man died after his small airplane crashed in a remote area north of Mora, New Mexico.
State Police Lieutenant Rick Anglada says 61-year-old Layton Frederic Lewis of Farmers Branch, Texas, was the only person aboard.
Investigators believe he took off from Tucumcari, New Mexico, heading for Colorado.
Search crews worked through the night but didn't find anything.
A state police helicopter found the crash site on Thursday .
Anglada says searchers found the pilot dead and the plane a total loss.
