PHILADELPHIA U-S Airways hopes to be back to normal operations today, as it struggles to recover from Friday's ice and snow storm that paralyzed airports in the Northeast.
The airline began the day yesterday trying to find seats for 100-thousand passengers systemwide. But by last night, lines were down to 30 to 45 minutes at the airline's hubs in Philadelphia and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Computer problems, airline staffing rules and other problems slowed U-S Airways' attempts to clear the backlog.
From Friday to Saturday morning, more than 36-hundred commuter and mainline flights were canceled nationwide because of the storm.
